What’s wrong with these wing-nuts

July 23rd, 2008

kool1This is my first post. I’m not sure how much time I’ll be able to devote to blogging. The name isn’t mine, since I work within local government and like my job so I prefer to remain anonymous, (for now).

The Ron Paul kool-aid drinkers are still mobilizing in hopes of taking over a floor vote at the GOP convention in Minneapolis.

From one of the Ron Paul dingbats web site:

John McCain needs 1191 bound or pledged delegates to win the GOP presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in September. As a result of the past week’s GOP primaries, according to the most accurate record of how delegates are assigned, McCain now has 1228 bound or pledged delegates voting for him. (While it is true that McCain’s “hard count” of pledged delegates, “the preference as originally assigned,”, is still only 873, leaving an additional 318 “hard” bound delegates to go, the “soft count” is most reliable for our purposes.)

And right here in Allen County, they’ve invaded GOP headquarters led by Ron Paul kool-aid drinker Tina Strack, who rumor has it has been using GOP headquarters for the Ron Paul nuts to have strategy meetings.

Hey people, enough already! Ron Paul needs to get out of the Republican party and go back to the fantasy land of the Libertarian party. Or maybe just become a democrat.

Alcohol Abuse Deterrent Program (AADP)

July 23rd, 2008

It seems a local citizen has it out for Judge Felts and the AADP program he sentences so many OWI violators to participate in. He has a MySpace page, and featured on the front page is Judge Felts’ mugshot.

aadp felts

Most of the friends on the MySpace page are in the AADP program, go figure.

There is also a YouTube site going after AADP, but it appears to be a different person.

On the flip side of things, this commenter at YourStreet.com had this to say:

Judge Felts obviously made a serious error in judgement. I, however, cannot believe the comments that are being made nor the media coverage that is occuring. I have encountered Tom Felts on various occasions - priamrily professional and community related functions. I am not a close friend but have a great deal of respect for this man. It is interesting that the media coverage never discusses the vast array of services this man has provided to out community. It is nothing short of, “tawdry”, that they had to bring his son’s “Face Book” imto the disucssion. This entire family is suffering. Why stoop to imvolvimg ome of his children? I have an issue with the aforementioned article written above stating that individuals are required to take,”poisonous chemicals”. To my knowledge, this only occurs for second-time offenders. Judge Felts is only protecting the rest of society from you. The Judge Felts that I believe I know will likely sanction himself much harder than he did you. Grow up and realize that everyone makes mistakes. Your gloating over this issue only makes you sound pathetic.

Someone agrees with Rush

July 21st, 2008

Obama ChangeI heard this at lunch today, and had to go look it up. It’s no shock that someone agrees with Rush, but this is one compelling writing that (no big surprise) I couldn’t agree with more. This, coming on the heels of the ridiculous attempt at gaining instant experience Obama has tried on his tourist trip to the Middle East. Go ahead and hate me for it. I can take it:

Excerpt from The Audacity of Ego by Joan Vennochi from The Boston Globe:

JUST LIKE the Obama girl, Obama has a crush on Obama.

Barack Obama always was a larger-than-life candidate with a healthy ego. Now he’s turning into the A-Rod of politics. It’s all about him.

He’s giving his opponent something other than issues to attack him on: narcissism.

A convention hall isn’t good enough for the presumptive Democratic nominee. He plans to deliver his acceptance speech in the 75,000 seat stadium where the Denver Broncos play.

There’s no such thing as a humble politician. But when Obama looks into the mirror, he doesn’t just see a president; he sees JFK.

McCain has one thing going for him: the appearance of modesty.

…with McCain, there’s also the sense of a man who made mistakes in life and acknowledges them.

The conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh regularly ridicules “The Messiah also known as Obama.” And “The Audacity of Obama” is turning into a ready-made take-off on the title of the Democrat’s second book, “The Audacity of Hope.”

The downside for Obama is how much his ego stands to resonate beyond the political right.

When the Obama Girl video first surfaced, Obama told the Associated Press, “You do wish people would think about what impact their actions have on kids and families.”

That’s good advice. He should think more about the impact of his ego on voters.

A presidential candidate is supposed to get bigger on the national stage. That doesn’t mean his head should, too.

Judges behaving badly

Judges on Hard Early Times

Friday, Allen County Judge Thomas J. Felts was arrested for DUI and Public Intoxication in Indianapolis.

Now, he could face disciplinary action from the same judicial commission of the Indiana Supreme Court that just days ago charged Allen Superior Court Judge Kenneth Scheibenberger with “willful misconduct.”

I wonder if he felt he had nothing to lose?

Felts is running for re-election to a six-year term in November. He is running unopposed, but his son set up a Facebook page on the popular online social networking site to get the word out early on his father’s candidacy.

Felts is also on the Foellinger Foundation Board and the President of the Indiana Judges Association.

Last week, Allen County Judge Ken Scheibenberger was told (verbatim here) he will face charges from The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications for a ‘disturbance’ in the courtroom during sentencing of a drug-dealer.

No shit. What else is there to say?

You are only Progressive if you are a Democrat

July 19th, 2008

gore pelosiThe recent gathering of “Progressive Bloggers” at the Netroots Nation conference glowed when they heard Al Gore’s voice loom over the loudspeakers to announce the beginning of the conference.

..the voice of former Vice President Al Gore boomed over the public address system, leaving a sea of quizzical looks and then gasps, cheers and a standing ovation as he strode onto the stage.

It produced the first electric moment at the conference, the Netroots Nation, an ever-widening group of progressive bloggers whose major interests — the war in Iraq, the environment and technology — mesh well with Mr. Gore’s current pursuits.

The conference, held in Austin, Texas, touts itself (as did the New York Times) as a place for Progressive bloggers:

Netroots Nation amplifies progressive voices by providing an online and in-person campus for exchanging ideas and learning how to be more effective in using technology to influence the public debate. Within the campus, we strengthen community, inspire action and serve as an incubator for progressive ideas that challenge the status quo and ultimately affect change in the public sphere.

But there’s a catch. It’s not for Conservatives. The only people welcomed were those interested in fringe-groups and supporting global widening of the humans-last agenda.

Their agenda includes break-out sessions appealing to “The Geek Caucus”, the “Street Prophets Caucus”, “The GBLTQ Caucus”, “The Mother Jones Caucus” and no less than 7 Obama caucuses.

I guess you have to be a Democrat to be Progressive.

Funny. Nancy Pelosi wants to quash blogging, unless it’s approved.

Under the rule, any kind of site that involves posting - including miniblogs on Twitter, podcasts, video on Youtube, etc. - would all have to be on sites “approved” by the House Democrat leadership as complying with House regulations. As the release states:

“Under the proposal, the House Administration Committee would develop a list of “approved” websites, and Members of Congress could only post content on such websites.”

That’s funny. If she, and other freedom-unless-you-are-a-Left-WINGNUT-Nazi’s, succeed in implementing the Fairness Doctrine, these people will be out of a job. Pretty thoughtful, Nancy.

Waiting for jail?

July 19th, 2008

sheriff carIf you haven’t seen Indiana’s Most Wanted its worth checking out. Since it’s inception it has been responsible for thousands of arrests. The site is adding many counties in Indiana to help expand the rate at which warrants are executed, at no cost to Police departments.

One of the purposes of this site is so that you, the citizen, can assist law enforcement by reporting the location of persons wanted by the various agencies listed here. Always remember, you should never approach or try to apprehend anyone listed on this site. You should only contact the appropriate law enforcement agency and let them determine what actions need to be taken to see that the warrant is executed correctly.

There is a tip page on each warrant where you can provide information about whereabouts of the people who are wanted. Amazing how many people are happy to divulge information about people they are pi$$sed off at.

You can also report non-compliant sex-offenders.

It can be a great feature for employers, as well. They can subscribe to get alerts for current, future, or past employees. As a recent Sheriff Deputy I talked to, who used to work at the jail, said he has seen a dramatic increase in the amount of background checks people come in for, mostly for prospective employees. I think this is a great addition to the safety of the workplace.

Indiana’s Most Wanted Now offers you the ability to monitor your employees for active warrants. Simply sign up and submit a list of names and you can receive weekly summaries of warrants for people on your list, or receive daily emails when new warrants are issued that match someone on the list.

This one (pictured right) is still my favorite.

Sleeping in the road

July 13th, 2008

sleepersNight of drinking in small town: $35

Bail for falling asleep in middle of road after night of drinking in small town: $300

Listing the convicting on a disclosure form for a job: Priceless

Two northeast Indiana men were charged early Saturday after a 911 call reporting that they were sleeping in the road.

A newspaper carrier called the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office about 3:30 a.m. to say she almost struck two men stretched out on Brookside Drive in Hamilton.

Officers and an ambulance were dispatched from the Angola area, only to find that the men were asleep next to each other.

After officers woke them up and determined they weren’t injured, the men were placed into custody, accused of public intoxication and obstruction of traffic.

They were ages 25 and 31. How stupid. Trust me, it isn’t a homeless issue in the small town. They are just that stupid.
